The 2018 Open 50 was originally scheduled to be run on Saturday 21st July.
An Accident on the A556 caused a delay to a massive load which was due to use part of the course.
A minimum delay of 90 minutes was forecast by the Police but it could have been longer so the decision was made to cancel the event.
The rerun of the event used a variation of J4/16 because the only HQ we could book was Marthall Village Hall. A start in Bomish Lane and finish near to the back entrance to Jodrell Bank limited the ride from HQ to Start to less than 3 miles.
Unfortunately we had 33 non starters and 9 DNFs meaning only 34 riders recorded a time.
Fastest on the day was Mark Turnbull of TORQ Performance in a time of 1:48:29.

The 2018 50 may well be our last! Difficulties in finding sufficient helpers from within the club have made it too stressful for the organiser and potentially unsafe for the riders.
